Indy Daredevils
The Indy Daredevils, also written as the Indianapolis Daredevils, were a pro soccer club based in Indianapolis, Indiana. They played in the American Soccer League in 1978 and 1979. The franchise had been the New England Oceaneers before it moved to Indianapolis.
The team played at the Butler Bowl on the Butler University campus. In 1978 it led the league in attendance at about 4,400 a game. It finished third in the Eastern Division and lost in the first round of the playoffs.
The 1979 season went worse. The club finished fourth in the Western Division and missed the playoffs. By one account it went through five head coaches in a single month. The team did not play after 1979.
